Ian, Emily and Celine arrived at Polihali thinking may stay for one night, but ended up staying for two nights. It’s that kind of place, that kind of people.
They explored the village by foot, sampled some home-brewed baSotho beer, played pool at a nearby tavern, walked to the top of Menooaning Pass (3060 masl), went pony trekking to bushmen paintings in a rock face overlooking the Senqu, made friends with villagers, and generally had a good time. They’re the kind of guests who have long conversations into the night, photograph the Southern Cross, and be up in the morning to watch the sun rises. Celine is also an outstanding photographer who captured the austere beauty of Lesotho magnificently, as these photographs attest. She also posted, in French but translatable, a brilliant Lesotho. trip report.
