Snow, snow, everywhere!

We had a really good trip through Lesotho and encountered snow extensively on our drive up Sani Pass and to Polihali Lodge where we spent the first night. We were looked after by Daniel and Angelina. We sure are glad for the wood stove and the wood!

We headed to Katse the next day, but had to change our travel plans because of the snow blocking the Kao Mine road. We eventually exited at Caledon’s Poort.

The value of a gravel road under snow conditions was perfectly illustrated by our experience on Menoaneng Pass as the stones provided good traction. By contrast, the tar road the other side of Katse, going towards Caledon’s Poort, was much more slippery.
